Episode 48: Kevin Rumley
Kevin Rumley, Veterans Treatment Court Coordinator- Kevin is a combat wounded Marine Corps veteran, receiving a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in battle (Iraq). Kevin is also a person in long-term-recovery, remaining a vocal community advocate for harm reduction modalities. Kevin has been on Suboxone for 7 years and asserts that it helped “save my life.” Serving for 11 years with the Special Olympics of North Carolina, and 6 years at NC Brookhaven’s Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT), Kevin came to appreciate the healing power of “the human connection.” Kevin received his bachelors in Public health at UNCA and his masters in social work at WCU. Kevin is a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist, and Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate, working as the Coordinator for the Buncombe County Veterans Treatment Court, a non-adversarial, treatment-based diversion program for justice-involved veterans. Kevin is also a drummer!
